TEXAS LIGHTNING

SOPHOMORE JUNIOR SENIOR SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT

AND YOUTH CUP

March 20, 21 & 22, 2008

 

The Texas Lightning Sophomore Junior Senior Showcase Tournament gives players the opportunity to Showcase their talents through its exhibition format. Over 200 college coaches/representatives from NCAA Div. I, II, III, NAIA and NCJAA college soccer programs are expected to attend this years’ event. Each team will play a 3 game minimum. In order to comply with NCAA rules, each team will play 3 round-robin games over the 2 days. Points will be accumulated which will result in a winner from each bracket. All Showcase games will be played at one location, Harold Patterson Sports Complex, to maximize player exposure to college coaches. Showcase games will be played on Friday and Saturday ONLY!

The Sport Source ® will host a College Style Clinic on Thursday, March 20th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Harold Patterson Sports Complex. Information and link to register can be found at www.texaslightning.org/2008sc.html.

The Sport Source ® College Seminar will also be held at the Arlington Hilton from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Friday, March 21st.

** All High School age teams are invited to attend The Sport Source® College Seminar.

 

The Texas Lightning Youth Cup is offered to Academy teams, U-9 through U-10, both boys and girls and Competitive Teams, U-11 through U-15, both boys and girls. There will be a 3 game minimum with bracket advancement to a final.

U-9 Academy Teams, & Boys and Girls will play 9 v 9 with a roster of 14 players.
U-10 Academy Teams, & Boys and Girls will play 11 v 11 with a roster of 14 players.
You will need an Academy Tournament Roster.



YOUTH Cup Games will be played at Harold Patterson Sports Complex.

Some Youth Cup games with local teams MAY be required to play on Thursday evening. Otherwise, games will be played on Friday and Saturday.

There will be no games on Easter Sunday.

 

APPLICATION:  Must be completed on-line @ www.texaslightning.org. All teams MUST be registerd with their state association.

 

DEADLINE: The 2008 Texas Lightning Showcase/Youth Cup deadline has been extended until Feb. 27th in order to round out some age groups. Team acceptance will be based on availability in your age group.
Application fee MUST be received within 5 days of your application in order to be considered for acceptance. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to participate in the tournament if accepted. *Failure to submit entry fee does NOT serve as notification that your team has chosen not to participate.  Tournament Director must be notified.

 

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: We will post Accepted Teams on the website, www.texaslightning.org shortly after the February 27, 2008 deadline. Teams not accepted will not be posted on the website and will receive a full refund.  In case of tournament cancellation, 50% of fee will be retained to cover tournament start-up costs.  If you apply for both Dallas Cup and Texas Lightning Showcase and make the Dallas Cup quarterfinals, you will be refunded your entire entry fee and a standby team will replace your team in the Showcase Schedule.

CHECK-IN:
Team Check-in will be held on March 20th, 2008, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
at the Hilton Arlington, 2401 E. Lamar Blvd., Arlington, TX 76006.
You will need:

  1. Copy of your official team roster
  2. Academy teams will need Official Tournament roster
  3. Guest Player Releases, if applicable
  4. Notarized Medical Release for each player, including Guest Player(s), if Applicable
  5. Travel Papers/Cards, if applicable

Field check-in will be limited to out-of-town teams. Please check in 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to your first game.

AGE GROUPS:   
Showcase

  1. Both boys and girls U-16, U17, and U-18/19.
  2. MUST BE REGISTERED WITH YOUR STATE ASSOCIATION
  3. Guest Players MUST have Signed Releases
  4. NTTSA Guest Player Release


Youth Cup
  1. Academy - U- 9 & U-10, boys and girls
  2. Competitive - U-11 through U-15 boys and girls
  3. MUST BE REGISTERED WITH YOUR STATE ASSOCIATION
  4. Guest Players MUST have Signed Releases
  5. NTTSA Guest Player Release


ROSTER SIZE:   

  1. Academy Teams U-9 - 14 players (no guest players) - Format 9 v 9
  2. Academy Teams U-10 - 14 players (no guest players) - Format 11 v 11
  3. U-11 through U15 - 18 players (including guest players)
  4. U-16 through U-19 - 22 players (including guest players

AWARDS:   

  1. Youth Cup - U-9 through U-15  -  1st & 2nd Place
  2. Showcase - Round Robin Games  (No awards given)


FEE:   

  1. Showcase - $795.00
  2. Youth Cup - U-11 through U-15 $495.00
  3. Youth Cup - U-9 through U-10 $295.00

Please be aware the games will begin each day at approximately 7:30 AM with the last game beginning at approximately 8:00 PM so make your travel arrangements accordingly. We wish you to be aware of this schedule in the event your school does not recess for Good Friday.
